Geertjes Gallery

Geertje Theis grew up in a very artistic surrounding, since both parents were painters. She added to this background her love of music, leading her to play the flute semi-professional and also to play regularly with her husband and three children. Later she also taught music for some years to school children.

She started to do patchwork in the early 1990s. Out of her craftmenship and her artistic eye for colours and forms, she developed a profession, which allowed her to let her talent strive freely.

In her ideas she combines her connection with nature -- which developed from her upbringing in rural atmosphere of the Warburger Börde -- with her musical empathy. This combination leads to colour and form compositions which seem to swing with the music. One is tempted to say that these patchworks representing music not in notation but colour and form.

Unfortunately many of the patchworks are not yet available on digital photograph. Comments to the works are also lacking, but we are working on all of them.
